| The people in Seram island had been working on jati plantation through the project of forestry department named National Movement of Forestry and Land Rehabilitation (Gerakan Nasional Rehabilitasi Hutan dan Lahan – GNRHL). |

The lack of financial is the main problem to continuing the project, it only carry on small scale of plantation. The growth of jati plants shown a progress which supported by land and condition of surrounding area.
The land are suitable for jati plantation located in West Seram cluster. Based on Forestry department of West Seram Regency year 2007, there are about 60.809,21 ha open land, Dry land/ secondary forest : 232.8055,44 ha and Savanna : 21.291,50 ha. Therefore the development of Jati Plantation is potential enough to be developed.

- To encourage investment in forestry sector
- To use of unproductive critical land
- To expand job opportunities and increase public income

The development of teakwood plantations through the cooperation with local community
